Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our name may seem general, but it is intentional. In the New Testament, churches were identified by the city where believers lived and met (Acts 8:1, 1 Corinthians 1:2). Following this pattern, we meet as the church in San Luis Obispo.

We do not claim to be the only members of the church in San Luis Obispo since all genuine born-again believers of Christ are members of the universal church.

However, we are taking the stand that we have no other name than simply the church and do not denominate ourselves based upon any teaching or practice. We hold to the common faith and seek to have fellowship with all genuine Christians. We also warmly welcome guests and visitors who are not Christians.

  • We do not currently own a physical building that we can consistently meet in. At times, we gather at the Ludwick Community Center on Sunday mornings, but much of our church life takes place in homes throughout San Luis Obispo County. We often meet “house to house” just like the believers did in the book of Acts! (Acts 2:46, 5:42)

However, despite the lack of a permanent meeting space, we hold to the sweet promise that “where there are two or three gathered into His name, there He is in our midst”! (Matthew 18:20)

  • We hold the faith which is common to all the believers (Titus 1:4). For more details, check out Our Faith!

  • Our church is currently on the smaller end and consists mostly of college students and older community members. At this time, we do not offer formal children’s or youth programs due to the size and makeup of our locality.

However, we hope this will not be a deterrent to you. Families with children are absolutely welcome, and we are happy to make accommodations as needed. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us about this concern if you will be attending any of our meetings, either by emailing churchinsanluisobispo@gmail.com or filling out the contact form below!

  • Great question! We would love to get to know you!

Please email us at churchinsanluisobispo@gmail.com or fill out the contact form below, and someone will reach out to you personally.

We look forward to hearing from you!

  • If you are able to join us at one of our in-person meetings, let us know and we can absolutely provide you with a copy of the Bible.

In fact, you can receive a free New Testament Bible at bfa.org.* You can also download the Bible app on your mobile phone or visit websites that provide access to the Bible for free as well.

*As stated on the Bibles for America website: We believe the entire Holy Bible—both Old and New Testaments—is the complete and only divine revelation of God. But because of cost, we give away only the New Testament so we can reach more people with God’s Word.

  • The church in San Luis Obispo occasionally uses photos and videos taken during our meetings and events for community and informational purposes, including on our website and social media. These images generally feature group activities and are used to help others get a sense of our church life.

If you or a family member prefer not to appear in any published media, please contact us at churchinsanluisobispo@gmail.com or fill out the contact form below, and we will ensure your preference is respected.
